Message from the National Executive Vice President

NAMC RETAINS INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

NAMC'S STATEMENT OF INTENT & PURPOSE:

“NAMC’s historical significance is clear and unquestioned – evidenced by the many successes of its current day membership.  We owe this legacy the benefit of continued care – which in turn furthers the cause of its membership through education, capacity building and access to opportunity” ~ Francis Onwualu, NAMC President

WELCOME - TINA DORTCH …..

Effective April 12, 2010 the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) engaged Tina Dortch to serve as the organization’s Executive Director on an interim basis. Per her formal education (in the areas of planning, administration and fund development) and her demonstrated career experience (in municipal work crossing all levels and many agencies of government, owner of a construction company, manager of an architectural studio) and most recently as a past member of NAMC’s Board of Directors, she is prepared to offer stewardship to the organization.   She is re-connecting with our chapter Presidents, the honorable members of our Hall of Fame and establishing new relationships with potential/future NAMC stakeholders.

Leading up to our June 2010 annual conference, Ms. Dortch has been charged with specific categories of service:

REVENUE FOR THE NATIONAL ORG – includes working with our sponsors and chapters regarding organizational dues as well as defining and establishing external sources of non-traditional revenue;

OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHAPTERS – includes identifying or brokering projects that result in bid invitations and the development of strategic alliances;

INTERCONNECTIVITY BETWEEN NATIONAL & LOCAL CHAPTERS – includes developing or fostering means/methods for interactive communication between NAMC national and the various NAMC chapters;

PROGRAMMATIC SUPPORT – includes developing and/or expanding capacity building services provided to NAMC membership via educational/informative formats;

ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION – includes refining means/methods for data collection as well as the maintenance and utilization of this information;

EXTERNAL RELATIONS – includes forming or maintaining NAMC’s support of and involvement in strategic alliances on relevant and timely topics.

As NAMC’s current day stewards, our intent is to maintain its mission.  Carrying out this intent requires focused, dedicated administrative support.  It is for this purpose that the executive director works closely with (and on behalf of) NAMC’s Board of Directors and its general membership.
